Scope: This Policy applies only to the iOS app "Zaine" (Bundle ID: com.fanmeowy.catteryCompanion). Other products of Fanmeowy (Xiamen) Network Technology Co., Ltd. (饭喵(厦门)网络科技有限公司) are governed by their own privacy policies, which this Policy does not cover. Please read and make sure you understand this Policy before using the app.
For users outside mainland China
If you use the app from outside mainland China, please note:
- Where your data is stored: This service stores and processes its data on servers in mainland China (Tencent Cloud). Your profiles, to-dos, records, and conversations are stored on our servers in mainland China; photos and avatar images are stored in Tencent Cloud Object Storage (COS) and delivered through a CDN (see 3.1).
- Who processes your conversations: Your conversations with the avatar are processed by DeepSeek (深度求索), a large language model provider in mainland China (see 2.2).
- Photos used to create an avatar: As described in 2.3, the pet photo you select to create an avatar may be processed outside mainland China via a relay service.
- By using the app, you acknowledge that the information above is transferred to mainland China to be stored and processed there.
- Deleting your data: You can delete your account in the app at any time (at the bottom of the "Account" panel). Once you submit, sign-in to the account is disabled immediately and a 7-day cooling-off period begins, during which you can cancel the deletion by signing in with the same Apple ID. When the 7 days are up, the account, together with its pets, records, conversations, and letters, is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered (see 5.4).
1. What information we collect and why
1.1 Photos from your photo library
Photos are used for two purposes and handled differently, so we explain them separately:
- Photos used to create an avatar: After you select a photo for your pet, the photo is uploaded to our servers and given to a generative image model to create your pet's avatar (see Section 2 for details).
- Pictures attached to daily records: You can attach up to 9 pictures to a daily record. These pictures are uploaded and kept with that record long-term, until you delete the record or delete your account.
We only read the photos you actively select in the system photo picker. We do not scan or read anything else in your photo library.
1.2 Microphone and speech recognition
When you press and hold to talk, we turn your speech into text in the input box; you check it and then tap Send yourself. Transcription uses on-device recognition whenever possible. When your device does not support on-device recognition, transcription is performed by the iOS speech recognition service (provided by Apple), which means this audio is processed by Apple in accordance with Apple's privacy policy. We do not save recordings, and we do not upload audio to our own servers.
1.3 Calendar
If you turn on the calendar switch, we add your to-dos that have a set time to a separate calendar named "Zaine". This calendar is write-only: we do not read any other events in your calendar. When you turn the switch off, this calendar is deleted in its entirety.
1.4 Content you enter in the app
Pet profiles (name, breed, birthday, etc.), to-dos, daily records, and your chat messages with the avatar. These are the app's core data. They are stored on our servers so that they can be synced across devices and shown to you later.
1.5 Account and device information
- Guest identity by default: When you first open the app, a random key is generated locally on your device and stored in the iOS Keychain as the account anchor for this device. No phone number is needed for this, and we do not collect your phone number, contacts, location, or advertising identifier (IDFA).
- Optional sign-in: You can sign in using Sign in with Apple so that you can get your data back after switching devices. What we receive from Apple is an opaque user identifier that cannot be traced back to you; if you choose to hide your email, all we see is Apple's relay address.
- Server logs: Request time, the endpoint accessed, the result returned, and your device model and OS version, used for troubleshooting and preventing abuse.
- No third-party SDKs: The app does not include any third-party advertising or commercial analytics SDKs.
1.6 Feature usage statistics (we ask you separately)
On first launch, we ask separately for your consent to "feature usage statistics". Whether you agree or not does not affect any feature: if you decline, nothing at all is collected or reported. These statistics only record feature events (enumerations, booleans, and numbers, such as which screen was opened or which switch was turned on), and do not include chat content, photos, or the text of your to-dos and records. Your consent choice is stored on your device; if you uninstall and reinstall the app, we will ask again. You can also withdraw your consent by contacting us as described in Section 8.
1.7 Purchases
Kibble in the app is purchased through Apple In-App Purchase (as a consumable). Payment is completed entirely within Apple's interface; all we receive is the transaction receipt issued by Apple and its verification result. We never access or store your payment method, card number, or Apple ID password.
2. AI processing and cross-border data transfer
2.1 What content is given to models for processing
Avatars are created by a generative image model, and conversations with the avatar are powered by a large language model. Therefore, the pet photos you select and the content of your conversations with the avatar are transmitted to the third-party processors listed below for processing. This is a prerequisite for these two features to work. Please be aware of it before using them.
2.2 List of third-party processors
- DeepSeek (深度求索): Receives the conversation context and generates reply text.
- Image generation model (accessed via a relay service): Receives the pet photo you select and the generation prompt, creates the avatar, and runs visual quality checks on the generated results.
- Tencent Cloud Object Storage (COS) and Content Delivery Network (CDN): Store and deliver the photos you upload and the generated avatar images.
2.3 Cross-border data transfer
The image generation model is accessed via a relay service, and servers along this route may be located outside mainland China. In other words, the pet photo you select to create an avatar may be transferred outside mainland China for processing. If you do not accept this, please do not use the avatar creation feature. The rest of the app is not affected.
2.4 Limits we set for ourselves
We only give these processors the content necessary to perform the functions above. We do not train models ourselves, and we will not use your photos or conversations for any other purpose not described in this Policy.
3. How we store and protect your information
3.1 Where it is stored and for how long
Your profiles, to-dos, records, and conversations are stored on our servers located in mainland China; photos and avatar images are stored in Tencent Cloud Object Storage and delivered through a CDN. This content is kept for as long as your account exists, until you delete it yourself or delete your account as described in Section 5. Detailed feature usage statistics on the server are kept for up to 180 days and are deleted automatically when that period ends.
3.2 Security measures
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS
- Sign-in credentials and the device anchor are stored in the iOS Keychain, not in ordinary storage
- Every read and write on the server checks who the data belongs to, so one account cannot read another account's content
No environment on the internet is absolutely secure. We will keep improving our safeguards, but we cannot promise that they are foolproof.
4. How we share and disclose information
4.1 You decide what is made public
You can choose to publish a pet's avatar on the Adoption board, or create a share link for it to send to others. Both are off by default and have to be turned on by you. Once turned off, they stop working immediately: the card is taken off the board, and links already sent can no longer be opened.
4.2 What is shown publicly
Only the name, breed, and avatar image. Your account identifier, birthday, daily records, to-dos, and conversations will not appear publicly.
4.3 Other cases
Apart from the processors listed in Section 2, we do not provide your personal information to any third party, except where laws and regulations mandatorily require otherwise or judicial or administrative authorities request it in accordance with the law.
5. Your rights
5.1 Access and correction
You can view and edit profiles, daily records, and to-dos in the app.
5.2 Deletion
You can delete an individual record, an individual to-do, or a pet in the app; pictures attached to a record are deleted together with that record.
5.3 Withdrawing permissions
You can turn off photo library, microphone, and speech recognition permissions at any time in the system Settings > Privacy & Security. For calendar sync, just turn off the switch in the app, and the "Zaine" calendar will be deleted along with it. After you withdraw a permission, the features that depend on it will no longer be available; other features are not affected.
5.4 Deleting your account
The option to delete your account is at the bottom of the "Account" panel in the app. Once you submit:
- Sign-in to the account is disabled immediately, and anything you made public is taken down at the same time
- If you use Sign in with Apple, we ask Apple at this step to revoke this app's authorization
- A 7-day cooling-off period then begins; during this period, you can cancel the deletion and get your data back by signing in with the same Apple ID
- When the 7 days are up, the account, together with its pets, records, conversations, and letters, is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered
5.5 Getting a copy of your personal information
If you need to export your data, please contact us as described in Section 8.
6. Minors
The app is intended for adults. If you are a child under the age of 14, please use the app only after your parent or guardian has read and agreed to this Policy. We do not actively collect personal information from children. If we find that we have collected a child's personal information without a guardian's consent, we will delete the relevant data as soon as possible.
7. Updates to this Policy
We will revise this Policy as our features change, and a revised version takes effect when it is published on this page. If a revision materially reduces your rights under this Policy, we will notify you prominently in the app.
8. Contact us
